Oriental Rug Cleaning - Berkeley
Berkeley has always had a special place in our hearts. The owners of Talisman lived there as early as 1953 and later attended college at UCB in the 60’s. Besides Oriental rugs and area rugs cleaned throughout the hills and flats of Berkeley, Talisman has cleaned a variety of valuable textiles from Berkeley public institutions - including an antique Thai banner for the UC Berkeley Art Museum and area carpets custom designed by former UC Art Department head Christopher Brown.
A unique, world-class Oriental rug collection is owned by Berkeley architect Christopher Alexander. The founders of Talisman have known Mr. Alexander since the 60’s and assisted in cleaning and conserving rugs for his highly praised exhibit at the De Young Museum in 1990. Talisman also prepared the entire collection for shipment when it was eventually transferred to the UK.
When Talisman began in 1980, one of our first clients was Emmett Eiland Oriental Rug Company - which was then located just off of upper Solano Ave. Almost 32 years later, Talisman and EEORC are still good friends and associates. Talisman unhesitatingly recommends Emmett Eiland Oriental Rugs for their integrity, expert knowledge, fine selection and reliable customer service. EEORC is a Berkeley institution that the city can rightly be proud of. Rugs taken to EEORC for cleaning will be hand cleaned at Talisman.
